Every Saturday, 50-70 guests representing between 150-195 people are provided with healthy food sources through St. Paul’s participation in the Garneau Strathcona Food Security. Church volunteers from four south side United Churches connect with some local businesses every Friday or Saturday morning to collect bread and baked goods. In addition, produce, protein and other food sources are secured through church donations and the Edmonton Food Bank. St. Paul’s is pleased to support this integral work, as it provides nourishment for those in need. Please consider donating today, by dropping off non-perishable food items to the church, or clicking the donate button on the side bar. The button takes you to the Paypal for St. Paul’s United Church. After you complete the first page with the total to St. Paul’s United Church, you need to designate Garneau Strathcona Food Security as the directed recipient for the funds.
St. Paul’s is the volunteer team on the third Friday and Saturday of every month. Covid protocols are in place for the safety of all volunteers and guests. All volunteers must provide proof of double vaccination.
Friday volunteers are needed from 10 am – 12 noon to set up, receive donated food, and pack bags with donated food.
Saturday volunteers are needed from 7 am – 9:30 am to fill bags with perishable foods, distribute bags of food to people accessing the GSFS program, and clean up.
GSFS is currently located at Edmonton Moravian Church 9540 83 Ave NW. If you are interested in volunteering please phone or email the St. Paul’s church office.
